New AEM Campaign Aims to Bolster American Competitiveness

I Make America, the national grassroots campaign of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), is mobilizing tens of thousands of manufacturing workers across the US to call on lawmakers to modernize the permitting process necessary to build critical infrastructure and boost domestic energy production. The campaign also seeks to ensure that infrastructure funding moves expeditiously to urgently needed project sites, and urges passage of a farm bill to guarantee a safe and abundant food supply for all Americans.
The campaign comes on the heels of Conexpo 2023, North America’s largest trade show. AEM’s I Make America campaign engaged with the 139,000 attendees to raise awareness for the policies that will strengthen the industry and ensure that equipment manufacturers can continue to make the equipment that builds, powers, and feeds the world.
AEC says the effort resulted in nearly 90,000 letters to Congressional representatives.
“Lawmakers must act to ensure that the 2.3 million men and women of our industry can out-innovate and outcompete the rest of the world,” says Kep Eideberg, AEM senior vice president of government and industry relations. “Improving the federal permitting process, passing a farm bill, and continuing to invest in infrastructure will allow equipment manufacturers to do what they do best: build equipment in America.”
